Designated Substance Reviews

Designated Substances may be found in building materials used in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Common hazardous materials include lead paint, asbestos insulation, mercury lighting, and PCB fixtures.

Prior to renovation and demolition work, a designated substance survey helps to identify presence, quantity, handling, and disposal requirements for hazardous materials and designated substances.

How do you know if you need a  Designated Substance Review?

Section 30 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Ontario Regulation 490/09 requires a property owner to determine if Designated Substances are present on a project site and to inform potential contractors prior to entering into a contract.

ASC personnel have extensive experience conducting physical assessments for Designated Substances. We can assist in identifying and mitigating liabilities associated with these materials. Whether your property is a residential building, a commercial office space, or a large industrial complex, our team is committed to offering timely and cost-effective solutions.
